Postdoctoral Fellowship in Social Work and Gerontology
The Center for Interventions to Enhance Community Health (CiTECH), in conjunction with the School of Social Work and the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce a postdoctoral fellowship in Social Work and Gerontology commencing in the Fall of 2021. This two-year postdoctoral training program provides mentorship and support for fellows to develop their research agendas on mental health and/or substance misuse interventions for older adults in community-based settings.
The successful candidate will contribute to the adaptation, deployment, and evaluation of evidence-based practices to improve mental health and well-being among older adults. The fellow will have access to start-up funds for independent projects and will contribute to the development of center-based publications and grants. Fellows will be mentored in the development of independent funding to advance their research careers in order to be prepared for faculty positions within Schools of Social Work.
Candidates who have completed Ph.Ds. in Social Work with a focus on older adults in the past five years are eligible to apply. Graduates who have demonstrated scientific rigor in their graduate research training and come from historically disadvantaged groups by virtue of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity or other related factors are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be US Citizens or hold a permanent resident visa.
Fellows will have the opportunity to work with researchers from across academic disciplines engaged in research activities related to older adults, obtain grant writing skills, publish scholarly articles, and present their work at local and national conferences. The fellowship supports salary, health insurance, funds for research expenses, and travel to attend one national conference.
The following materials are required for application to the postdoctoral program:
- up-to-date curriculum vitae
- letter of application, outlining research goals
- three letters of reference
- two samples of written/published materials
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Please submit all materials and address any questions to: Laura DiSarro at firstname.lastname@example.org
